That’s a Wrap on Phase 1

The Hip-hop, Heels and Vogue Workshop Series

(phase I of avec’s 2024 Spring season programming)

is complete!

avec hosted 6 workshops throughout Manhattan in February and March taught by five incredible teaching artists: Karma Stylz, Rinor Zymberi, Annia Nelson, Jamie Solomon and Kaitlin Hill.

25 - 30 students, ranging in skill level and age, joined avec for these $10 2-hour long workshops. I watched every single dancer in the room absolutely slay the house down to Houston week after week. What a privilege to see so many groups of talented artists moving together.

avec’s

inaugural gala

performance and party event is scheduled for Spring/Summer 2024, where participants of the Workshop Series are invited to perform and showcase what they learned in the studio with avec.

By introducing the choreography first in the open-level Workshop Series, avec aims for all students to participate in From The (Roof) Top! with the understanding that the “stage” is…a rooftop patio dance floor.

From The (Roof) Top! proposes the question, “am I watching dance? Or am I doing dance?”, which hopefully everyone in attendance will answer, “Both!” The idea is that the performers will showcase choreography learned during the Hip-hop, Heels and Vogue Workshop Series on the dance floor next to, nearby and with audience members.
